We are seeking creative proposals for the Riverfront Innovation Fund, an initiative launched in 2018 to provide seed money for new riverfront projects and programs.
Organizations and individuals will have the opportunity to apply for up to $50,000 for projects that are both revenue-generating and align with Riverfront Recapture’s mission, to connect people to the Connecticut River. Applications will be accepted online through midnight on February 21, 2019.
“We were thrilled with the exceptional proposals we received last year, and excited for our partnerships with the 2018 awardees, Blue Haus Group & BuzzEngine,” said Riverfront Recapture President & CEO Michael Zaleski. "We're looking forward to investing in innovation once again, and can’t wait to see what the second round of proposals brings.”
The first Riverfront Innovation Fund award recipients, Blue Haus Group & BuzzEngine, were selected from a pool of more than 20 applicants.
Hartford-based Blue Haus Group will run the 4th Ward Riverfront Market in Charter Oak Landing, a gastro-market and pop-up hub. In addition to a waterfront café, bar, food trucks, and live music, 4th Ward will feature a variety of activities including paint nights, farm to table dinners, tiki events, and a monthly farmers market. 4th Ward After Dark will bring local talent to the stage on the Market’s patio. West Hartford-based Buzz Engine will present Spirit Festival, September 13 - 15 in Riverside Park and at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza. Spirit Festival is a celebration of yoga, music, wellness and dance produced in association with the BaliSpirit Festival, named one of the top ten yoga festivals in the world, and will bring world-class instructors in yoga and wellness for three-days of life-changing programs, dance and music.
The Riverfront Innovation Fund supports enterprises and infrastructure ideas that capitalize on the Riverfront Recapture’s strengths, will attract visitors to the parks, and foster creative community connections. More information and application guidelines can be viewed here.
