Birdhouse Build | $25 per person
Monday, May 27, 9 -11 am
Where do Eastern Bluebirds live? Learn about their habitats and their ideal homes and then build a birdhouse that will be used to promote nesting in our parks. Meet at the picnic tables in Charter Oak Landing.
Warbler Walk | $12 per person
Wednesday, May 29, 1 - 3 pm
Warblers are migratory birds, and they’re often gone before you think to look for them. They visit the river banks only briefly, so join us for a hike and catch a glimpse while you can. Meet in the parking lot at Great River Park.
Eagle Exploration | $12 per person
Saturday, June 1, 10 am - 12 pm
Over 100 species of birds can be found in our parks along the Connecticut River, including the majestic eagle. Learn the basics of birding and binoculars as we look for pairs of nesting eagles along the banks of the river, as well as ducks, birds of prey, and songbirds on this 3.5 mile hike. Meet at Great River Park parking lot.
Full Moon Hike | $15 per person
Sunday, June 16 & Monday, June 17, 8:30 - 10:30 pm
Experience the beauty of our parks and trails by the light of the moon on a guided nighttime hike along the beautiful Connecticut River. Be sure to bring your camera, the full moon hike provides spectacular views, and we'll frequently stop to take photos of the nighttime landscape. Meet on the Boathouse patio in Riverside Park.
Mindful Hike | $12 per person
Wednesday, May 22 & Friday, June 28, 12 - 1 pm
Leave your phone and the distractions of daily life behind on this quiet, meditative hike that fosters a stronger connection with the natural world. Meet on the Boathouse Patio in Riverside Park.
Birding Basics | $12 per person
Saturday, June 29, 4 - 6 pm
Have you ever seen a bird and asked yourself “What is that?” Find the answer to that question and more while learning the basics of bird identification and binoculars while hiking and looking for eagles, red-tailed hawks, kingfishers, sparrows and more. Meet in the parking lot at Great River Park.
