Riverfront Swing Night is part of the Farmington Bank Community Concert Mini Series featuring Simply Swing. The series includes three riverfront performances, June 10 & July 8 in Great River Park, and July 1 at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza. 

Riverfront Swing: Salute to the Big Bands
June 10, 6:30-8:15 pm, Great River Park, East Hartford

Riverfront Swing Night returns to the Great River Park Amphitheater in Easy Hartford with Simply Swing’s Salute to the Big Bands. Led by musical director/drummer Joe LaRosa, the popular, 10-piece swing orchestra will perform danceable favorites from Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Harry James, Tommy Dorsey, Buddy Rich, Stan Kenton and Woody Hermann. In addition, featured vocalist Vivian LaRosa will perform several numbers commemorating the Ella Fitzgerald Centennial. Rain date: June 11.

July 1, 6:30-8:15 pm, Mortensen Riverfront Plaza

Simply Swing, led by musical director/drummer Joe LaRosa, will perform danceable favorites from the WWII era including American Patrol, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Bugle Call Rag, St. Louis Blues and I’ll Be Seeing You. The popular 10-piece swing orchestra’s performance will also honor veterans with the Armed Forces Medley and conclude with God Bless America. Rain date: July 2.
