Location: Mortensen Riverfront Plaza
Part of our International Festival Series presented by Lincoln Financial Foundation, this festival brings you an evening of music featuring some of the best international Latin Jazz and Salsa artists.
The festival showcases some of the most talented international artists in Latin Jazz and Salsa. Former students of Guakía and founding members of Guakibomjazz (Guakía’s Latin Jazz Youth Orchestra), pianist Damian Curtis, bassist Luques Curtis, pianist/composer Saccai Curtis, trumpeter Joel González and percussionist Nelson Bello, today professional international musicians in their own right, will be the opening act. They will be followed by master trumpeter Charlie Sepúlveda and His Turnaround ensemble. A Big Band Orchestra conducted by Maestro Ray González will pay tribute to the music of two great legends: Tito Puente and Tito Rodríguez. The orchestra will feature legendary singer/composer: Miguel “Meñique” Barcasnegras, singer Raúl Luis Santos, timbal player Edwin Clemente, bass player Hector “Máximo” Rodríguez and pianist Sammy Gali.
The mission of the “The Ray González Latin Jazz and Salsa Festival” is to heal with music the soul of the community and nourish it’s yearning for music of excellence. The festival is hosted by Riverfront Recapture and is free to the public. Jazz and Salsa lovers of all nationalities—bring your dancing shoes and join us at the Plaza on July 12th!
