Charter Oak Landing

Reserve Road, Hartford

Just south of downtown, our riverfront park features a dock for excursion boat service as well as a public boat launch. Spend some time fishing in the Connecticut River. Take a walk along one of our paved and lighted river walks, or pack up a basket and enjoy a family outing in picnic areas complete with tables, a children’s playground and public restrooms. The parking is free; the beauty is priceless.

WALKS/TRAILS

Charter Oak Landing to Great River Park’s Amphitheater, Hartford and East Hartford

2.0 Mile loop. Approximate walking time: 40 minutes

From Charter Oak Landing’s parking areas, follow the walkways to either the stair tower or pedestrian ramp on the Charter Oak Bridge and cross the river into East Hartford. Once back over land, descend the stairs to the floodplain and follow the paved walkway over the Hockanum River Bridge and continue north through the forest to Great River Park’s amphitheater and main entrance. To return to Charter Oak Landing, simply reverse the directions. The walkway is paved and lighted its entire length.

Riverfront Recapture is the only licensed authority to sell and serve liquor for consumption in the Riverfront Parks.

DIRECTIONS

From North of Hartford, take I-91 South to Exit 27, Airport Rd. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Airport Rd. At the end of Airport Rd, turn left onto Brainard Rd, and then take your first left onto Reserve Rd. The park entrance is on your right under the Charter Oak Bridge.

From South of Hartford, take I-91 North to Exit 27, Airport Rd / Brainard Rd. At the end of the ramp, continue straight onto Murphy Road. Go straight through the next intersection and the park entrance is on your right, under the Charter Oak Bridge.

From East of Hartford, take I-84 West to Rt 5 / 15 & I-91 South Exit across the Charter Oak Bridge.  After crossing over the Connecticut River, take Exit 87, Airport Rd / Brainard Rd. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Airport Rd, and then take your second left onto Reserve Rd. The park entrance is on your right under the Charter Oak Bridge.

From West of Hartford, take I-84 East to Exit 52, I-91 South to Exit 27, Airport Rd. At the end of the ramp, turn left onto Airport Rd. At the end of Airport Rd, turn left onto Brainard Rd, and then take your first left onto Reserve Rd. The park entrance is on your right under the Charter Oak Bridge.

PARKING

Free parking available within the Park.

HANDICAP AND STROLLER ACCESSIBILITY

Charter Oak Landing is a handicap and stroller accessible park.

RESTROOMS

Port-o-let bathrooms are available May through November (approximately based on weather and park activity) and during all Riverfront Recapture events.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

There are many area restaurants which are a short drive from the Plaza.  Information about local restaurants can be found at www.hartford.com.
