300 Columbus Boulevard, Hartford, CT

Mortensen Riverfront Plaza, a landscaped park over I-91 in downtown Hartford that opened to the public in 1999, is the centerpiece of the Riverfront park system. A stage at the river’s edge provides a scenic venue for a rich variety of performances, with seating for 2,500 people on grassy terraces that descend from the plaza to the Riverfront. Excursion boats operate from the downtown docks, which also serve events such as the annual dragon boat festival. The Founders Bridge promenade connects Hartford with East Hartford, restoring pedestrians’ access between the communities and the river.

Enjoy performances at our stage, take a walk, or get in a workout by running the terrace stairs. Come by foot or car—we have a place for everyone!

Parking is available at the Connecticut Science Center/Riverfront garage which offers direct, convenient access.  Other Riverfront Plaza parking options include several nearby garages, or on-street parking in Hartford which is free at night and on weekends.  You also can park in East Hartford and take the short walk over the Founders Bridge Promenade.

Food & Beverage

Food and beverages are for sale during most Riverfront Recapture events. On non-event days, food can be purchased at one of the many area restaurants within walking distance or a short drive from the Plaza.  Information about local restaurants can be found here.
