Classes are offered in both large, team boats (sweep rowing) and smaller, individual boats (sculling) in spring, summer and fall, and during the winter we train indoors. Different teams cater to different schedules, but all provide the same opportunity to make technical improvements and enjoy the beauty of the Connecticut River with your teammates. The midday group is able to extend two extra weeks into October due to generally better visibility and river conditions.

Mixed Masters Racing is for experienced adults either looking to work their way up to the competitive men’s or women’s teams or for a racing team on a less intensive schedule. Practices focus on building fitness and refining race techniques and strategies. The team plans to race twice during the fall (CRI Fall Classic, Head of the Fish) in addition to the Head of the Riverfront Regatta. The focus is on Mixed Boat racing, with rosters comprised half of men and half of women. Join the team and try your hand at racing.

8 am Sculling: Tu/Th 8 - 9:30 am, 9/3 - 10/17, $300
Sculling class is perfect for athletes looking for a small class to refine their small boat technique. Limited to the first 5 registrants – get the most out of your fall before winter weather chases you off the water.

Intermediate Sweep: Tu/Th 6 - 7:30 pm, 9/3 - 10/3, $200
Rowers who just started this summer or are coming back after a long break and want to brush up their skills can do so with our Intermediate Sweep program. Building on the lessons of the beginner sweep classes, this program focuses on an improvement in blade work as well as developing athletes’ comfort and competence in boats of different sizes and configurations. Additionally, rowers learn the essential skills of coxing to further their understanding of the sport.

Fall Open Sculling: 9/3 - 11/1, $250
Experienced scullers who want to continue to row on their own time should consider our open sculling program. Row at your own pace and on your own schedule. If you learned to scull this summer, please consult with Director of Rowing Bryan Pape to make sure this program is appropriate for you.
