JUNIOR RACING TEAM

Riverfront’s Junior Racing Team is open to any high school student and no previous experience is required.  Beginners are encouraged to try rowing during our summer four-week sessions and beginning or experienced rowers can participate in our two-day or our four-day Youth Rowing Camps.

The team operates like a high school varsity sport and the team competes against other varsity high school teams and clubs.  Novice Riverfront rowers compete against other teams’ novices while experienced rowers compete against other experienced rowers.  For example, EHHS, CIBA and Capital Preparatory students receive varsity points for their participation, and it is a recognized Club Sport at the Watkinson School

“I have been really impressed with the growth of the Riverfront program.  The kids are rowing well and competing against more established programs.  What’s great to see is the camaraderie and confidence they have, and the support they give each other regardless of the differences in skill level.  The Riverfront Recapture program does a great job instilling those qualities in their kids.”  Steve Hargis, United States Rowing Junior National Team, Head Development Coach, and 2008 US Olympic Committee’s Developmental Coach of the Year
